The first steps of your child's journey with us at CCDC are some of the most crucial. We try and focus on ensuring your child has the fundamentals down before they are to move onto the next classroom. This includes the ability to confidently roll over and sit up on their own. Even more crucial is the slow progression towards holding their own bottle and eventually eating purees.
We do ask that upon enrollment families bring in their own diapers, a change of clothes, and bottles that are labeled with their name and date. This is primarily to ensure that your child has everything they need, and we do have emergency backup clothes if needed!
Infants
With the younger infants schedule, we try to prioritize time spent on your child's development. The parents and teacher discuss a personal routine that has been working at home or any habits you have noticed with your child. This way we can work together to ensure your child is getting the same quality care you give at home. As well as to maintain or help in healthy habits being developed.
No child, big or small, wants to stay cooped up all day, so we try and allow healthy amounts of time for them to spend in the fresh air and playing with toys. Of course this is all monitored, with safety as the priority.

8 Months to 14 Months Old

Older Infants
In this stage we really start to focus on your child's preparation for the toddler classroom. Having met all the benchmarks and outgrowing younger infants, we now focus on building on the skills for the next steps. For instance, they transition from sleeping in cribs to cots and start to confidently walk on their own. Slowly but surely we are beginning to implement more outdoor play and reinforcing the habit of handwashing.
When it comes to the schedule for this classroom, it begins to reflect that of the older classrooms. With more outside time and a designated nap time. Importantly, we begin to transition slowly away from a bottle and instead into a sippy cup. As well as beginning to eat from the school-given menu. Which snacks and meals are included in your child's tuition.

14 Months to 2 years old
Toddlers
This classroom is where all of your child's hard-earned skills are polished. Having learned to begin to eat from the center's menu, they will now begin to learn how to properly use utensils. Their learning also increases, with a focus on number and letter recognition, as well as beginning to engage in subjects such as art and music. One of our favorite stages for your child, as you get to truly see them learn and grow faster than ever before. Importantly, we focus on the children playing together. Parallel play is a common behavior when your child is younger, where they play alongside other children too nervous to play with them. Instead we try and build on engaging play, where they play together!
This classroom is where all of your child's hard earned skills are polished. Having learned to begin to eat from the centers menu, they will now begin to learn how to properly use utensils. This includes the beginning of circle time, as well as outside time for 30 to 60 minutes twice a day. As well as the encouragement in singing and dancing with their classmates. Building on their feeling of inclusivity and relationships with the other children. Leaving every day with something new learned and with stories of friendship and smiles.
