Cynthia Barnes
Hello, my name is Cynthia Barnes, and I am the owner and current director of Charlotte Child Development Center. I have been in the field of child care for over 34 years. For the longest time, I dreamt of opening up my own center. On a fateful day in June of 2010, I had the opportunity to do so.
Being a mother myself of six, I understand what it is like to be a parent. Having been on both sides of the field, when CCDC was opened, I wanted to address the problems I ran into when I looked for childcare for my children. Too often it felt like the different centers and preschools I visited were unorganized, and communication between me and the director or teacher was unclear. It was never about the money, but instead about the children.

About the Owner
I ended up finding success that I am beyond grateful for. To the point I ended up going and working at other centers as a flipper. I worked at a center in Fort Mill, taking them from 45 students and 18 staff to 142 students and 30 staff. As well as assisting in the complete building makeover and program reworking of the center in Charlotte. From lease to open in just 7 weeks.
I have always had a love for childcare and still do. To this day, spend every day trying to ensure the process is simple and clean for both the parents and teachers. I never intended for CCDC to be very big. Rather than size, I wanted to focus more on personalization. Ensuring CCDC could be a second home for children. Where teachers feel like family, friendships are created, and memories are made. At the end of the day, I love being in childcare. I hope to bring the same love I give for my children into caring for yours.
